HexClad’s hybrid cookware brand has expanded beyond just pots and pans. HexClad makes a whole set of kitchen knives, and these new blades have celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s approval.

Six knives are included in HexClad’s new Japanese knife brand set: a chef’s knife, a serrated knife, a santoku knife, a utility knife, and a paring knife. In 2021, Ramsay became HexClad’s lead ambassador, responsible for the brand’s product development, branding, and growth strategy. He was also in charge of testing and approving these new knives. The knives still hold their own despite being endorsed by celebrities. The blades of the new knives are crafted from Japanese Damascus steel, a material usually reserved for knives crafted by the best in the knife industry.

I was drawn to HexClad Japanese Knives about a year ago because of its intriguing appearance and design. Gordon Ramsay’s program Next Level Chef on FOX features HexClad. He became a partner of the brands after first using and liking them.

“We spent years developing these knives, rigorously refining and testing them to ensure they cut. You can’t rush perfection. It was essential for us to create a powerful, versatile, and handsome set so that consumers would experience the high performance and high design they’ve come to expect from HexClad, “said Danny Winer.

HexClad Knives Review

From the professional to the home kitchen, I’ve always said that great cooking begins with knives. It’s unbelievable how smoothly these knives slice. It’s always a perfect cut, whether prepping veggies, slicing bread, or deveining shrimp. “These are the best in the business,” Gordon Ramsay declared.

  • 8″ Chef’s Knife: Powerful and versatile, the chef’s knife features an astonishingly sharp cutting edge that tapers to a precision tip. With an ergonomic handle and ideal balance, you’ll easily slice through hard vegetables or finely trim proteins.
  • 8″ Serrated bread knife slices through crusts without crushing them and glides through the delicate interior. The wide serrations provide grip and smooth cutting action, whether slicing a day-old artisanal loaf or shaping a sponge cake.
  • 7″ Santoku Knife: A true triple-threat, the Santoku knife makes easy work of chopping, dicing, and mincing. It’s ideal for fast; precision cuts with a shorter blade than a chef’s knife. The broad face and sheepsfoot design (no point) also make it great for scooping ingredients.
  • 5″ Utility Knife: The utility knife puts an incredibly sharp edge into a smaller, highly convenient form factor. Whether you’re slicing proteins, herbs, or a sandwich, this knife is a kitchen workhorse that beginners can easily handle and for experts to master.
  • 3.5″ Paring Knife: Our paring knife sets the bar for precision performance, from peeling and cutting small fruits and vegetables to deveining shrimp. It puts total confidence and control in the palm of your hand.

HexClad Essential Kitchen Knife Block Set

Sixty-seven layers of Japanese Damascus steel make up each knife in this handsome set, the gold steel standard in the culinary world. The knives have a Rockwell rating of 60, retain their edges beautifully, and have gorgeous forest-green pakkawood handles.

With a HexClad honing rod, you’ll keep your edge sharp. The microscopic ‘teeth’ of the knife edge need to be correctly aligned regularly for optimum cutting performance. Even high-quality steel blades fashioned from Japanese Damascus steel can develop less smoothly with age.

Legends are made of Damascus steel. It became popular during the time of Alexander the Great. Damascus steel may not resemble mythical steel, but it makes for some fantastic kitchen knives. Different types of steel are welded together and folded into layers, contributing to the material’s rippled appearance and the blade’s superior edge retention.

A good knife should have a full tang, meaning that the steel extends to the end of the blade, providing excellent balance and durability. A beautiful green pakkawood handle completes the look, which stands out in any kitchen.

As HexClad fan Gordon Ramsay says, “A chef is only as good as his knives.” When you upgrade the rusty, dull blades you’ve been using for years with a new knife set from HexClad; you might be surprised at how much easier it is to prep and cook your favorite meals.
